Our new textile project was born in the Pacific coast of Oaxaca Mexico. Working in collaboration with a small textile manufacturer ran by Mayra, a single mom, and her brother Luis. Using the traditional telar de pedal technique, they carefully weave every inch of fabric in the traditional way. Telar de pedal was an ancient technique that dates back to the 10th century and was introduced in the American continent through the Spanish conquest.

We are proud to be working with Mayra and Luis, who employ young men that were otherwise caught in a life of drugs and alcohol. These young men are fed three meals a day and learn to become skilled artisans in this magnificent technique.
