Desde que era niño, recuerdo la emoción que sentí cuando me topé con un dólar de arena en la playa. Como ávido cazador de tesoros, coleccioné estas magníficas conchas planas, que guardé como joyas preciosas. ¡Tenían poderes mágicos! Parecían y se sentían como flores del océano. Eran mis flores. Mi mamá me dijo que eran buena suerte. Todavía creo eso.
Esta colección está enteramente inspirada en las flores del océano de mi infancia. Encarnan la imaginación y la magia que todos sentimos tan vívidamente cuando éramos niños.
Como diseñador, es interesante volver a visitar estos objetos que alguna vez tuvieron tanto valor y magia. Empiezo jugueteando con ellos, explorando cada ángulo, tocando las texturas.
El proceso final de descomposición y luego volver a juntar los diferentes fragmentos es un poco como hacer un rompecabezas.
En este proceso de creación de Fleur De Mer, descubrí que algunos de los diseños me recuerdan a los móviles de Calder, mientras que otras composiciones tienen un toque de Matisse. Siempre es sorprendente ver lo que se esconde en la imaginación inconsciente.
